Felinify
AI powered flashcard app for fast, personalized studying. Generate flashcards from notes and study with smart modes.

Felinify is a flashcard app I’m building to reimagine how students study. It started with two goals:
- I wanted to build something real with AI.
- I wanted to fix everything I hated about Quizlet.
I’ve used Quizlet a lot in school, but the free plan started to feel really limited. There were so many features I wanted that just didn’t exist. So instead of waiting for someone else to build it, I decided to try it myself.
That’s how Felinify was born.
The Idea
I wanted to make a flashcard app that was super minimal and only focused on what actually helps you learn. Nothing extra. No bloat. Just simple tools that work.
Here’s what I’v done so far:
- You can create flashcard decks manually or use AI to generate them from notes
- A Classic Flip mode where you study flashcards and earn mastery as you go
- A Challenge mode quizzes you on your flashcards and tracks how well you’re doing
- An AI Adaptive Quiz mode that generates quizzes based on your flashcards and past performance
- Deck mastery tracking to visualize progress over time
- Paid plans give you more AI generation credits and full access to the AI features
- An Explore page to browse public decks
The design is also themed around a bright, orange cat look. Clean, light mode, and fun to use.
What I Learned
One of the biggest things I improved from my last project (Focul) was performance and code structure. Focul had messy code and slow load times, so this time I focused on building something that’s actually optimized and scalable.
I also learned a lot about building for real users. I designed different study modes, created a full deck mastery system, added AI limits based on user plans, and made sure the whole experience feels smooth and easy to use. I spent time thinking about how to keep the app lightweight but still powerful, and how to make it fun too.
What’s Next
Right now, Felinify is live and working. I was surprised when someone random signed up and actually created a flashcard deck. However, I now I had to disable signup as the web app is still under development.
Here’s what I’m planning to add soon:
- A cat AI assistant called Lumi
- Better onboarding and landing page
- Legal stuff like privacy policy and TOS
- And many more!
Felinify isn’t just a side project. I will be officially launching it as my first startup as soon as it’s ready. I’m excited to keep improving it, get real users, and see how far I can take it.
If you’re a student who likes flashcards or wants something smarter than Quizlet, you can try out Felinify too.
